I often receive requests from my patients for self-help readings that they can do in between sessions to better themselves. I have compiled a list of books that have not only been on bestseller lists, but which are very reputable for their self help focus.

While this week’s blog is brief, it provides you with numerous resources that are not.

Please see the following list for self-help reading books that can help you to grow and are a wonderful supplement to the therapy process.

Self-Assessments

Additionally, I have linked multiple self assessments that can be used to help you determine if seeking therapy services could be a benefit to you. These links are not a substitute for the professional opinion or diagnosis made by a licensed mental health professional. They are used for informational purposes only, and can guide you to making the decision to seek professional help.

Please click on the following links below to determine if additional support is needed for a variety of concerns. These assessments are confidential and can be taken in the privacy of your own home. The information you submit will also be secure.  These assessments can serve as an indicator that seeking support through therapy can help bring more joy and meaning into your life.

Smartphone Mobile Apps for Mental Health

Finally, in the day and age of smart phones and electronic devices, there are many apps that can be used as supplemental resources for the therapeutic process. The following is a link to some of the best apps for mental health.

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America has created a comprehensive list of mental health apps available along with a description of their ease of use, effectiveness, ability to personalize, research effectiveness, and level of interaction.  This list can be found here.
